Concrete bag yield (40, 60 & 80 lb)
Typical industry planning values — NOT a structural/geotechnical design. A licensed engineer sizes load-bearing concrete, footings and reinforcement; confirm against your product’s spec sheet and local code.
Bagged concrete is sold by weight; the ft³ each bag yields is a labeled typical (a 40 lb bag ≈ 0.30, a 60 lb ≈ 0.45, an 80 lb ≈ 0.60 ft³). Always confirm the yield on your bag. Use this with the bags-of-concrete calculator and the concrete calculator.
| Bag size | Typical yield | Bags per cubic yard |
|---|---|---|
| 40 lb bag | 0.30 ft³ | 90 bags |
| 60 lb bag | 0.45 ft³ | 60 bags |
| 80 lb bag | 0.60 ft³ | 45 bags |
Labeled conventions — bag yields vary by mix and brand; always confirm the yield printed on your bag. Bagged mix usually beats ready-mix only on very small pours (roughly under a cubic yard).
